SIG Entertainment We've all heard and read a lot about Palm Island lately and about the boat cruise, plus the concert that would rock right from the boat into the island and all day.
Well, we fished out the guys behind the fantasy-come-to-life event and got an interview.
Tell us about your outfit.
SIG Entertainment is an event packaging outfit and music label. We also shoot videos.
But our strong point is leisure. We currently have exclusive rights to organize shows on Palm Island which is a beautiful coastal island along the Lagos water ways.
We plan to have monthly events and time-outs on the Palm Island for people who want to relax, have fun and escape the hustle and bustle of Lagos city life.
These guests would have the use of the guest house and the private beach so they can unwind and get rid of accumulated stress.
We provide them with a luxurious place and atmosphere to network with people from all business sectors. Couples can regain their lost romance by escaping into this paradise.
It is a priceless experience.
The monthly event which is an Island Jam, would feature star artistes, lots of music, beach games, lots of food and drinks.
We also organize boat cruises to Palm Island. It is a tour guided boat cruise which takes the guests to the landmarks on the Lagos water front like the Tarkwa Bay, the Lagos Port and all that, and then all the way down the Palm Island for beach fun.
So our next event which is the Palm Island Beach Slam is a combination of the boat cruise and the Island Jam. The party starts right on the boat and continues on the island.
Do you outsource any part of the work to vendors?
We do just about everything ourselves. We handle all the logistics. We only have to outsource a little to professionals: Like the media hype for instance.
Does SIG Entertainment act as a vendor to other events packaging outfits?
Or does it partner with them in organising their events or get-aways?
Oh sure.
We’ve handled quite of number of events for quite a number of organizations; including get-aways for executives for their brainstorm, and staff treats. Also, we’ve worked with associations like the Indian Association of Nigeria.
We’ve also partnered with families and individuals for bachelor’s eve and parties where they tell us what part they want us to help them with including availing the island to them, the boat cruise and sometimes the beach house.
You said you are also a record label. What genre of music is your label into and which artistes are on your label?
We are very liberal, but we major on soul.
And the artistes, could you give a few names?
I would only name a couple; T Max and Dewaves.
Dewaves is already known in the UK. Dewaves is a rapper with and African slant; raps in a medley of English and natives languages. T Max’s genre is Soul majoring on Afro Dancehall.
You shoot their videos?
Oh we shoot videos artistes generally, whether or not they are on our label.
We did Eldee, Sauce Kid, Tony Tetuila, and we are working with Tuface.
There has been buzz about labels ripping off artistes since the beginning of time and many artistes’s are now running their own show or partnering with others.
What do you do for your artistes?
We serve as promoters to them. We organize events for them to feature in. and perform. We get placements for them to perform in other concerts and events and clubs.
We get their music into the radio and TV stations. We organize tours for them. We have organized a UK tour for Dewaves. We are organizing another one for the other guy now.
What is the ultimate goal for you guys?
We are headed for the top in leisure and entertainment.
SIG Entertainment has come into the industry with a bang, and the after-glow with last as long as forever.
