Facebook Rolls Out New Timeline Facebook is undoubtedly one of the major players when it comes to social networking platforms. So it wouldn’t be a no brainer when even the slightest adjustment to the site sparks off so much controversy from the 800 million plus users of the site.
Hence, users have been advised to brace up for the change in some of the features on the site for which would be effective during the next few weeks.

The new change involves primarily a new Timeline feature on the website which the social media have said afford people the chance to give a better idea of who they are. But, the feature has been on the website since December 15th last year with an option given to users to either use or ignore it.
However, this would not be the case anymore as the New Timeline would now be an integral part of the site, although users would be given seven days to edit their Timelines by adding or deleting information from it before it becomes available to friends.
The new feature on Facebook would allow individuals to access effortlessly status updates and pictures of friends from 2004 when the site debuted till present. Although, the new Timeline does not tamper with the privacy settings, a representative of the website assured. She said "Timeline does not change any of your existing privacy settings." She also added that the seven days given before the new Timeline becomes permanent on the site was to allow users review their profiles and remove anything they posted some years back that might be inimical to their social life.
Also, users would be able to control whether all or just a number of friends can access a specific photograph courtesy what officials of the website calls “activity log”. The activity log would allow people to be able to apply explicit privacy settings to each post published on their page.
On how the “activity log” would function, a spokeswoman for Facebook said "It will show you all of your posts and activity - from today back to when you first started using Facebook. Only you can see your activity log. You can use it to easily review and choose who sees what you've shared on your Timeline."
Chief executive of Conversocial in a social customer service software company, Josh March thinks people would adapt to the new feature in due course in spite of the current protests. When asked about the fears over the fears that people’s privacy might be severed, Josh March said "People always worry about this sort of thing but it's not showing people what they can't already see."
